Located in the vibrant Birmingham Jewellery Quarter, our team of 280 friendly and dedicated professionals is the heartbeat of our business.
We are currently seeking an Analytical Chemist to join our team on a full-time, permanent basis, working 37.5 hours per week, Monday – Friday.
What you’ll be doing
- Ensuring assay samples are collected from the relevant production departments, logged into the material database ready to be tested
- Unknown metal samples are screened using techniques such as XRF, to determine constituent parts of the alloys and enabling selection of the correct analysis method
- Ensuring samples that require analysis by an external company are dispatched to agreed timescales
- Gold, silver and platinum is quickly and accurately analysed using various methods (fire assay, titration and ICP techniques) – to allow the release of the precious metal into the business
About You
- A degree qualification in a Chemistry related discipline (or equivalent), and at least one year’s industry experience in a similar role (post qualification).
- Experience of using ICP, XRF, Potentiometric Titration methods.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to also use initiative and work independently.
- A highly organised, methodical approach.
- A willingness to learn new techniques, multitask processes for efficiency, keep accurate records, and follow instructions.
- Maintenance of a clean and safe working environment.
- General administration skills & computer literacy.
